Online Game Review: RoadZ

I spent the first 5 minutes of RoadZ trying to figure out how to move my character, then I realized I had to use the right mouse button to move, then I realized I had more than one character, then I got them all stuck in a building, then I decided to restart and pay attention to the instructions at the beginning of the game. So let's just start from the beginning shall we?

RoadZ begins with a pretty well drawn intro, and then drops you into the online game, skipping the title screen. The problem is you HAVE to read the instructions at the beginning of the game, or else you wont know how to do anything. Everything is controlled by the mouse. Which when controlling a cast of three characters ( there,s more later ), doesn't provide the best experience. Although it could have been better, easily, why instead of clicking and moving one character at a time, can't I move them all as a group?

I had to restart the game a second time to figure out how to control the car. Apparently when everything else uses the mouse in the game, they decided the best control options for the car were the WASD keys. Frustrating controls aside, there is a game under here. At least a good concept. While I do like the idea of a zombie game where your whole goal is to find food and shelter to survive, the game handles it fairly poorly, The game consists of you driving to the right looting a building ,moving more to the right, fortifying a building, sleeping, rinse and repeat. And guess what? You can only move right.

I know I may have been rough on this game, but there is very little game here, I'm guessing, judging by the games end screen, that the goal of this game is to see how far you can travel without dying. However, with the control scheme the way it is I wasn't tempted for a 3rd attempt at playing this game. I'll be lenient and give this game a 5 / 10.

You can check out the game here.
